Science beyond the lab: Working in the European Institutions

15 July 2019

As European citizens, the EU institutions and their policies are very relevant in our lives. You might see that they only consist of politicians, but consider all the policies on technology, health, environment, R&D,… What is the role of scientists in the EU institutions? How is the process of applying for them? Or where can they find the information about it?

After our first edition of "Science Beyond the Lab: a vision from the European Institutions", many of you asked for a practical session on how to apply for a position and some more information regarding the selection process. As this process is open to everyone in the EU, we wanted to extend this session to possible candidates living in Spain.

In this context, on Monday 9th September 2019, CEBE is organising a "hands on" session in Madrid where a member of the EPSO team (European Personnel Selection Office) will come and explain the steps to follow to apply for a position and give you information about the selection process/criteria.

Afterwards, three speakers, who also work for the European Commission, will explain one by one their personal experience in a short intervention of 15 minutes each, focusing on the process of applying and how they reach their position they hold these days within their institution.

The event will be in English, and it is in collaboration with the EPSO team in Brussels, and the Fundación Ramón Areces in Madrid, which is sponsoring it.
