Quantum computers

22 September 2019 ·

This October we bring you a new session within our “Spanish Influencers” theme, aimed to showcase the high-quality science done by Spanish Scientists as well as motivate and inspire international scientists currently settled in Belgium. We are very proud to announce that professor Ignacio Cirac is this year’s “Spanish Influencer”: Ignacio is a renowned physicist whose latest research focuses on the quantum theory of information. Throughout his work, Ignacio developed a computational system based on quantum mechanism which made him recipient of several awards and prizes.

Furthermore, this year’s event will be complemented on the Belgian front by the ULB professor Serge Massar, who will introduce the basics of quantum mechanics at the beginning of the session. Altogether, this year’s “Spanish Influencers” will bridge science carried out in both Spain and Belgium and hopefully start and nurture collaborative networks.

This event will be held on 16th October at 19.00h in Brussels’ Instituto Cervantes.

Programm :

19h00 - Presentation of CEBE and collaborators

19h15 - Serge Massar: "Quantum Mechanics: From fundamental questions to applications"

19h30 - Ignacio Cirac: "Quantum computers"

20h00 - Q&A

There will be a reception at the end where you can meet the speakers closer and interact with the rest of the audience.

Registration is free but mandatory!
