Who are we?
The administration board of CEBE has the following members:
Ana Barragán Montero
Ana Barragán studied Physics at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) and the University of Lund (Sweden), where she spent 1 year within the Erasmus program. She graduated in 2013 and moved right after to Belgium, where she is doing a PhD in medical physics at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). Her research topic is “proton therapy”, a growing technique to treat cancer with radiation nowadays. In 2016, she co-worked in the creation of CEBE as association, where she tries to share her passion for science by helping in the organization of events to popularize science among other topics.
Miguel Ángel Berrocal
Born in Madrid in 1995. Graduated in BSc Biology in 2017 by the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). He obtained two ERASMUS + scholarships consecutively in 2015 and 2016, in which he completed part of his BSc and was also invited as guest researcher at Imperial College London (ICL). In 2016 he was elected as Deputy Ombudsman for the UAM. In 2017 he participated in the Santander internship on Financial Inclusion held at Georgetown University (GU). Also in this year, he was awarded the “La Caixa” fellowship for postgraduate studies for his MSc in Biophysics, Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL), which he is completing at the moment. He has been a member of CEBE since April, 2018.
Mari Paz Quilez
Maria Paz obtained in 2012 her degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Zaragoza, followed by a M. Sc. in Biomedical Engineering. She combined her studies with research projects in the Aragon Institute of Engineering Research (I3A) and the Hospital Lozano Blesa, performing studies about the biomechanics of knee and hip implants. After her studies she decided to tackle new challenges in industry such as Product Manager or Supplier Quality Engineer in automotive companies. She is currently working as Medical Research Engineer for Materialise NV in Leuven, developing a Pre-planning tool for Total Knee Arthroplasty as part of her PhD. Maria Paz enjoys providing support to researchers aiming for a career change to industry.
Ángel Urueña de Castro
Angel completed his studies in Telecommunication Engineering and Electronic Engineering in Valladolid (Spain). After that, he moved to Belgium, where he did his PhD studies at KULeuven, hosted by IMEC (Leuven), researching on designing and optimizing processes for solar cells. Currently, he is working for Kaneka, focusing again in the research and development of solar cells. Angel authors and coauthors more than 50 scientific papers in international journals and conferences. In 2016, he co-worked in the creation of CEBE as an association, where he is the current treasurer and helps in several administrative tasks.
Moreover, some of the CEBE members help organizing events:
